Get involved!

The Dove Service is always seeking help from those who wish to get involved and wish to give something back to society.

Trustees

We have an excellent Board of Trustees made up of professionals and those with key skills and experience and who provide robust governance to the charity. Their individual skills, interests and passions are also used through their active participation in various Board sub-committees to help the Chief Executive Officer and senior staff run the charity.

At this point in time we are actively seeking trustees with qualifications, skills and passion in:

  • IT systems, hardware and software
  • Fundraising
  • Strategic experience and knowledge of Social Care & Health
  • Professional trainer / from the education and life-long learning sector
  • Marketing and / or Sales Manager

If you feel that you have the above required professional or other skills, or other skills and passions that would be useful to the Dove Service and would like to explore how you could become a Trustee for the charity please contact Dr. Simon Hankins, CEO; 01782 683 155 or simon.hankins@thedoveservice.org.uk

Counsellors

We are always interested in receiving applications from qualified and trainee counsellors who wish to provide a level of counselling for the charity. The organisation provides counselling services that are rooted in Person-Centered counselling; however, we advocate an integrated approach to counselling, adopting an approach that best meets the needs of a client at a particular point in their therapeutic intervention.

We will accept applications from anyone studying for a Diploma (or above) in counselling as well as from qualified counsellors.

We offer a highly professional and very supportive environment for counsellors within the charity. There is also the opportunity to be paid for providing counselling within the Dove Service, and if you are ambitious, there are an ever growing number of opportunities to develop your skills and for you to develop as a person by working within one of a number of projects where we deliver counselling, support, workshops and training in issues related to bereavement, loss and grief in different communities and to different client groups.

If you wish to explore counselling opportunities within the Dove Service please contact Jill Jenner, Service Delivery & Development Manager (internal projects and outreach); 01782 683155 or jill.jenner@thedoveservice.org.uk.

Administration Volunteers

There are limited opportunities for non-counselling volunteers, but we do sometimes have the need for Administration support; therefore, if you are interested and able to provide a level of professional administrative support to the charity please contact Jill Jenner, Service Delivery & Development Manager (internal projects and outreach); 01782 683155 or jill.jenner@thedoveservice.org.uk.

Fundraising

If you feel that you would be able to, and enjoy organising, a fund raising event or activity for and on behalf of the Dove Service that would be wonderful. We would ask that you contact Dr. Simon Hankins, CEO; 01782 683 55 or simon.hankins@thedoveservice.org.uk to discuss your ideas.

If you would like to get involved and help in a fundraising event, but not organise one, then that is equally important and valued. We would ask that you contact Sarah Mockridge, Administrator; 01782 683155 or sarah.mockridge@thedoveservice.org.uk to register your interest and willingness to help and highlight any restrictions or limitations that you feel you have (basically what things you’d like to get involved with and those that you wouldn’t wish to get involved with – if known). When a suitable event is being organised we will contact you to see if you’d like to, and are able to, participate.
