The Dove Uth Wing Launch
Friday 29th January 2010 at Sneyd Green Community Centre
The Big Lottery Young People’s Fund “Dove Uth Wing” will run across Stoke-on-Trent for the next 5 years, and is aimed at those aged 10–18 years old.
The Dove Service will be providing peer mentoring training with a focus on grief and loss, training in subjects such as grief and loss, bereavement, listening, behaviour management, and emotional awareness, project awareness sessions, and one-to-one counselling in Schools, Colleges, Youth Clubs and with any other groups of 10-18 year olds that want our support.
Our vision, in collaboration with partners across the City, is to establish a sustainable network of Peer Mentor Teams within the City of Stoke-on-Trent, and train service provider professionals, so that together we can develop a level of self support for young people.
Please do come along and find out how the project will be working with Young People in the City of Stoke-on-Trent. We would like to learn from your experience of working with Young People, how we can reach them, how we can help to support them, so that we can make our service best fit the needs of Stoke’s young people.
As part of our launch we will be asking colleagues to spend some time in groups discussing the key issues that we have already come across in the opening stages of the Dove Uth Wing, and look forward to pooling our collective experience and expertise, which will enable us to jointly find solutions and ways forward.
We very much hope that you will be able to join us for an afternoon of celebration, information, discussion and most importantly, tea and cake, to help us mark the launch of this project with colleagues across the City, which we are sure will make a significant contribution to the life and wellbeing of the young people of Stoke-on-Trent.
