The Dove Service (formerly known as Bereavement Care) is a registered charity and was established in 1984 by the founder, Linda Machin. The organisation moved from premises in the grounds of St Luke's School, Hanley to The Dudson Centre, Hanley in 1998. The organisation has grown substantially since 1984, and continues to expand and develop to meet an ever increasing demand.

We are a team of trained counsellors offering support. We see individuals, children, couples and families. Each counselling session lasts about an hour, the number and frequency of sessions depends on your individual needs and circumstances, and is agreed between you and your counsellor.

Your counselling session will last for approximately 50 minutes and will be at the same time and on the same day each week. If for some reason we have to cancel your appointment we will give you as much notice as possible.

Our training and policies help us to be sensitive to the needs of different members of the community including people from black, Asian and other ethnic groups, people with disabilities, lesbians and gay men.
