Quality Standards

BACP Accredited Service logo

BACP

Our counselling services are accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and our Senior Management team are all individually accredited.  We work within the BACP “Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions” and are subject to the BACP Professional Conduct Procedure http://www.bacp.co.uk

Many of our counsellors are working towards accreditation, and we were the first organisation to get all of our counselling team onto the voluntary register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists.

ISO 9001 mark

ISO 9001

We have held an ISO9001 quality standard award since 2011, which covers all aspects of the Dove Service policies, training, and service provision.  It also covers the procedures in place that relate to our professional standards and training of both staff and volunteers.  For example, the Dove Service maintains records to demonstrate that all qualified counsellors complete 30 hours continued professional development (CPD) a year.

The ISO9001 is monitored through site visits, reporting adherence to a procedural manual (updated annually), maintaining training records and a series of quality marks that are regularly checked against each counsellor.

The initial statement issued in 2011 states that:

“It is the policy of the Dove Service to ensure:

  • We provide our service users with a high quality service and to meet contractual specifications and requirements.  Where applicable, these services will conform to relevant National and International Standards.
  • The achievement of long-term viability by providing the highest practical level of service to our service users and stakeholders.
  • To continually improve the effectiveness of the quality management system”

Clinical Governance

What is Clinical Governance?

“The framework through which organisations are accountable for continually improving the quality of their services and safeguarding high standards of care by creating an environment in which excellence in clinical care will flourish.”

(taken from a definition commonly used by the NHS)

We place great importance on maintaining the standards of our delivery for all of our clients, and place this at the heart of everything we do.  Our management team meet on a weekly basis with our Clinical Services Manager Richard, and our External Clinical Advisor Dr Ann Dalzell, to ensure that we are working in the best interests of our clients and counsellors at every step.

Equality Act 2010

We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion ensuring everyone is fairly treated. We recognise and follow the Equality Act 2010.

The Dove Service aims to provide services on an equal basis to those who need our support, but recognise that there are some limitations to our accessibility.  We have published this strategy to address some of those limitations and will review the strategy annually.
